The Hemloft was a hidden egg in the woods of Whistler, BC. It was constructed by Joel Allen on crown land (owned by the provincial government) meaning that if ever discovered by the wrong person it would have to be taken down. So, I guess that being said it's fate was sealed from the beginning. Joel in 2013 shared this secret tree house with Dwell magazine after which he decided the thought of the Hemloft degrading up in the woods somewhere was something he couldn't live with. He decided to dismantle it and give it away on Craiglist. Craigslist being symbolic because that is where he sourced most of his materials from. It is a shame to see it taken apart but still the Do-It-Yourself attitude is very inspiring and the fact that you don't necessarily need a whole pile of cash to do something great.
