The Rich Kids of Instagram

The same theme seems to pop up with every new technology there is something ridiculous, usually some narcissistic spin these days,  that comes along with it.

The Rich Kids of Instagram

documents the hilarious nature of kids posting all of their lavish gifts and trips on Instagram, a majority of the time in the cheesiest way possible. There is always obviously a backlash of sorts when people flaunt their ludicrous wealth. You don't need to be a part of that, just enjoy the fact these are just kids trying to fit in by showing you their Ferrari's. Haha.

If I were supreme leader I think I may make this wardrobe combination illegal, or at the very least people wearing it receive a very timely punch between the eyes.

Also check out Kanye West and his diamond teeth and trying to explain it to Ellen:

"Certain stuff rock stars are supposed to do.", brilliant just brilliant. Have a good day friends and tell me what you think about all these excesses.

Max Schaaf, Living the Dream

Max Schaaf was a professional skateboarder and now builds custom motorcycles. He seems to be living the dream. Which always instead of depressing me, inspires me, okay maybe it depresses me a little. There is something great about motorcycle builders and the meeting of art and function. When art is forced to be functional and exist within those constraints it seems to often elevate it to another level. In the same way that Sam Maloof's chairs bring both form and function together in harmony. Well, I'm starting to sound like a art history textbook so just check out Max.

This video is poetic in the way that many videos try to be, and fall flat on their face. This one feels really sincere and not douchey at all.

If you are digging Max and his whole style you should definitely check out blog full of plenty of inspiration. Also this interview is very honest and true at Vice.com.

The Greatness of Maurice Sendak

Most people know of Maurice Sendak because of his most famous book: Where the Wild Things are. This is primarily where I know him from as well, but seeing a myriad of his illustrations throughout the years I am always impressed. I have also always loved children's books and once (when I was 19) I tried to lock myself in my room for 30 days to get one written/illustrated. This failed miserably but only because I didn't have the confidence in myself at the time, or as my Mom says "stick-to-itive-ness". The able to just stick to a path and see it through until its conclusion. Enough about that really I just want to pay homage to this great illustrator. If you are interested in Maurice, the Tell Them Anything You Want really sheds light on his complex and interesting hate of adults:

This next illustration In the Night Kitchen a book from 1970. Features a naked boy but, only because he falls in some dough and Maurice thought it would be a pain to illustrate his clothes with dough all over them. It is frequently to this day banned by many schools and libraries--which is silly as if children don't know that other children have genitals.

Oh no a penis! First they see a penis in a book then next is premarital sex.

Hope you enjoyed Maurice's illustrations, let me know what you think. Be inspired and create!
